Hagshama Sydney was invited by Peter Debnam MP, Member for Vaucluse, to use the Parliament House Theatre to host 100 Hagshama members for a private screening of "The Case For Israel". Following the award winning documentary, Michelle Rojas from Stand With Us gave a heartfelt speech and entered into a lively discussion.
Michelle Rojas from StandwithUs, an Israel advocacy organization, visited Melbourne last week and Hagshama had the opportunity of hosting a dinner with her. 10 young adults came to the intimate round table forum with her and were able to ask her some hard questions regarding Israel advocacy and her work.
Hagshama and Jewish Aid hosted a picnic for the Sudanese community to promote greater understanding of each others cultures and relgious practices. The picnic took place at Temple Beth Israel and it was a culmination of 4 months of cooking classes that Hagshama co-ordinator, Sha'ron Haviv has been facilitating on a weekly basis.
Rabbi Lau, chief rabbi of Tel Aviv and the youngest survivor of Buchenwald spoke to the Melbourne Jewish community on Yom Yerushalyim about Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, followed by a youth forum where he answered questions about the relevance of Zionism in Israel today.
