On the 15th December 2009, Marais Rd Shul, Ohr Somayach, Beit Midrash Morasha in conjunction with Hagshama Cape Town and SAUJS came together to celebrate the festival of lights – channukah, which pulled a crowd of over 130 young adults!
Hagshama Sydney ends the year with a bang!! Over 450 young adults from Sydney’s Jewish community came together in style, to celebrate the end of the year and the second night of Chanukah at Hagshama’s ‘Chanukah Gold Party’.
Hagshama Melbourne hosted a Bollywood, Channukah party on the 7th night of Channukah at a local club to celebrate Channukah, the end of the work year and summer in Australia.
Over 30 young adults and 11 different communal organisations attended Hagshama Sydney’s ‘Shuk Shuka’ event The event is about encouraging young leaders to continue to develop themselves by engaging in volunteer work in the Jewish world.
Sydney Hagshama’s Israeli Film Club, Arutz Chamesh, gathered its members and visited Sydney’s annual Jewish Film Festival. In the comfort of a silver class cinema, over 30 young adults were challenged by the movie “Zion & His Brother” which presented a fresh view of Israeli society that is rarely seen on screen.
Hagshama brought journalism students from all over the North American continent to Washington, DC for the annual "Do the Write Thing" conference (DtWT), held in concordance with the Jewish Federations of North America's General Assembly (GA).
Hagshama brought three former "Kochav Nolad" (Israel's "American Idol") contestants to tour university campuses in the US from October 19 to November 5th. The trio visited campuses on the East Coast from October 26th to November 1st.
Sydney Hagshama’s Israeli Film Club, Arutz Chamesh, screened the evocative Israeli film “Lemon Tree” in Sydney on Thursday, October 29. Over 20 young adults came together to watch and discuss this important film.
On Tuesday 6th October, during Chol Hamoed Sukkot, a crowd of students and young adults enjoyed an evening under the stars at the Claremont shul, whilst enjoying a beer and boeri braai in the wonderful sukkah!
