Short update
In the last months and days the residents of many additional towns and cities were added to the sphere of rocket attacks from the Gaza strip - Ashdod, Ashkelon, Netivot and lately Be'er Sheva, actually all of the numerous communities and settlements that fall into the 40 km. radius from Gaza.
Israel, that restrained from returning fire for many months, and did not stage any meaningful counter-attack against the Hamas, launched operation "Cast Lead" on Saturday, December 27: A large scale military operation that aims to change the current situation in the region and restore the peace and quite for the hundreds of thousands of residents in southern Israel.
In this battle, where most of the burden is carried by the home front, we all pray for the safety of the residents of the south, and, of course, for the safety of the IDF soldiers in the air, sea and land, wish for the hasty and successful conclusion of the operation, that will provide a normal life for all the citizens of Israel.
The "Color Red"
The "Color Red" signals the beginning of 15 critical seconds during which one needs to find cover. The words "Color Red" are broadcasted over the PA - public address system (usually used only for sirens in war times) every time a rocket in launched from the northern areas of the Gaza strip.
At the moment of signal the residents of this region must drop everything they are doing and find shelter in only 15 seconds, otherwise, their life is in danger.
What can you do in 15 seconds?

- 15 seconds is not enough time to put on your shoes and tie your shoelaces
- 15 seconds is not enough time to pay at the cashier and get the correct change
- 15 seconds is not enough time to sign in to your email and start reading your mail
- 15 seconds is not enough time to take 5 breaths
- 15 seconds is not enough time to say good bye to your loved ones
- 15 seconds is not enough time to take cover and save your life
- 15 seconds is not enough time…
Can we conclude that?
- …hundreds of thousands of citizens, among them many children, should not have to live in constant anxiety.
- …a normal family cannot function when the children are afraid of going to the playground and the parents are afraid of going to sleep.
- …the continuous firing of Kassam rockets over the past eight (8!) years must stop!
